Truck & Trailer Repair in Edmonton: common questions
Is this the repair shop's own website?
No. This site passes your call to an independent local heavy duty truck repair shop, which quotes, books and does the work. Local shops pay us to receive these calls; see how this site works.
Which shop will I be talking to?
An independent heavy duty truck repair shop in the Edmonton area. They'll answer with their own name, and you can ask for their address and hours on the call. If nobody can pick up, leave a message and it's passed on.
Is this site for pickups, RVs or cars?
No. This site is for heavy duty trucks and commercial trailers only, so the shops it connects you with are heavy duty shops. For a diesel pickup, look for a light-duty diesel shop.
What does a heavy duty diagnostic cost?
Fullbay's 2025–26 State of Heavy-Duty Repair report puts the median North American heavy duty shop labour rate at $149 an hour (the report doesn't say whether that is US or Canadian dollars). Edmonton shops set their own rates, so ask for the diagnostic charge and hourly rate before any work starts.
Can I call about a trailer?
Yes. Tell the shop what kind of trailer it is and what's wrong, and it will confirm whether it handles that work (lights and wiring, brakes, air suspension, landing gear, structural). See semi trailer repair.
Which truck makes can I call about?
Any heavy truck, for example Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mack, International or Western Star. Tell the shop the year, make and model when you call, and it will confirm whether it works on that truck.
Who needs a CVIP inspection in Alberta?
Under Alberta's Vehicle Inspection Program, trucks, truck-tractors and trailers over 11,794 kg registered weight need a CVIP inspection every year (over 4,500 kg if they run outside Alberta), at a facility licensed by the province. Ask the shop to confirm it's licensed when you call. See CVIP inspections.
How much is a CVIP inspection in Edmonton?
Alberta doesn't publish a CVIP fee; each licensed facility sets its own, and we found no Edmonton heavy duty shop publishing a CVIP price online (October 2026). Alberta's facility search listed 316 licensed commercial inspection facilities in Edmonton, so ask for the price for your type of unit before booking.
Is roadside service available?
Some Edmonton heavy duty shops run service trucks for roadside and yard calls, but not all. Ask whether mobile service is available for your location when you call.
How soon can my truck be looked at?
If the unit is broken down or out of service, say so first, then ask when the shop can look at it. Timing depends on how busy the shop is and what the truck needs.
Can fleets set up an account?
Terms vary from shop to shop. Ask whether the shop sets up fleet accounts, invoicing or PO billing when you call.
Is my call recorded?
Yes. Every call starts with a short message saying the call is recorded and transcribed so the shop has your job details. Messages are recorded and transcribed too. See privacy and call recording for who sees them and how long they're kept.
