Privacy and call recording

Edmonton Heavy Duty is operated by Derek Kress (Alberta). This page explains what happens to the information from your call.

What you hear

Every call starts with a short message saying the call is recorded and transcribed so the shop has your job details, and where to find privacy details.

What we collect

We record the call and make a written transcript of it. If nobody can pick up and you leave a message, we record and transcribe the message. We also keep your phone number and the time and length of the call.

Why

To pass your enquiry to the heavy duty truck repair shop you're connected with, so they can follow up on your job; to pass your number and message on if nobody can pick up; to confirm the enquiry came through this site; and to count the calls this site receives, which we show to shops in totals only.

Who sees it

The shop taking calls from this site receives your phone number, the time of the call, and the transcript or your message. We (the operator named above) receive the same details. If no shop is taking calls from this site when you call, your message comes to us and we pass it to a local heavy duty truck repair shop that can help. Our service providers process this information for us (see below). We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.

Service providers and where your information goes

We use service providers to run this site and its phone line, and your information may be stored or processed in the United States by them: Twilio (phone calls, recordings and text messages), Deepgram (turning recordings into transcripts), Resend (emailing call details to the shop and to us) and Cloudflare (website hosting and our call records). While it is outside Canada, it may be accessible to courts and authorities there. For our written practices on service providers outside Canada, or questions about them, email [email protected].

How long we keep it

We delete call recordings, messages and transcripts from our systems 12 months after the call. Copies of the call details already emailed to the shop are kept by the shop under its own privacy practices.

Questions or requests

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email [email protected]. You can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
